The municipal program "Pla de Buits" aims to revitalize unused land in the city of Barcelona, through activities promoted by public or private nonprofit organizations, with the involvement of civil society in the regeneration and revitalization of the urban spaces. The activities and uses of each space, one year extendable up to three years, are also considered in the public interest or social utility, and their temporary installations are easily removable. They are educational activities, sports, leisure or recreational, cultural or artistic, environmental and landscape, social or community, or similar. An Assessment Committee is responsible for evaluating if the projects have involved the environment, are economically self-sufficient, including environmental sustainability criteria, be creative and innovative and have a high impact and social performance.
